
Getting Your KTK Oval Press Back Up to Speed
When you’re swapping out heater bulbs in a KTK oval press, just matching the wattage isn’t enough. Trust me. If the fit is off by even a couple of millimeters or the electrical load is wonky, you’re looking at arc-overs or—even worse—ink that just won’t cure. That’s why we obsess over the 1:1 fit. You shouldn’t have to tinker with your machine or “make it work.” You just want a lamp that slides right into the housing and does its job. The Electrical Side of Things We built these lamps to play nice with M&R and KTK systems. We use high-wattage quartz tubes because you need that punch of shortwave infrared radiation to flash-dry ink between stations. But here’s a quick tip: check your transformer output before you plug anything in. If the voltage is off, you’ll either blow the bulb instantly or you won’t get enough heat to actually cure the ink. It’s a balancing act. You want high heat density, but remember that puts a lot of stress on your power supply. Built to Last (and Fit) Rapid heating and cooling is brutal on glass. To handle that thermal shock, we use heavy-wall quartz. We also add a halogen gas fill, which keeps the filament happy and stops the glass from turning dark and cloudy over time. As for the installation? It’s simple. We use standard industrial pins that slide straight into your KTK sockets. No rewiring. No headaches. You just pull the old tube out, slide the new one in, and you’re back in business. A Few Real-World Warnings A perfect fit makes the swap easy, but the lamp is only half the battle. Take a look at your reflectors. If they’re pitted or covered in old ink spray, it doesn’t matter how new your lamp is—the heat isn’t going to hit the garment properly. One last thing: when you push these lamps to their max, the inside of the press head gets hot. Really hot. Make sure your cooling fans aren’t choked with lint or dust. You don’t want to find out the hard way that your sockets have melted during a long production run.
