If you’re running a blow molding line, you know the struggle. You need your PET preforms to hit that perfect temperature quickly, but you don’t want to burn the plastic or waste time. It’s not for looks. By winding the carbon fiber into a spiral, we’re basically packing more heat into every single millimeter of the lamp. The result? Just a heads-up, though: if you go for the high-wattage setup, keep a close eye on your conveyor timing. If the preforms linger too long, you’ll start seeing bubbles, and nobody wants that. Carbon fiber vs. the old-school quartz Most people are used to tungsten or halogen, but carbon fiber is a different beast. It puts out a broad spectrum of infrared radiation that actually sinks into the plastic rather than just hitting the surface. We wrap the fiber in high-purity quartz glass to keep it from oxidizing. The best part? These things can handle the constant “on-off-on-off” cycle of a blow molding machine without the filament snapping. It’s just tougher. But that high heat density means the surface gets scorching hot in a heartbeat. If your cooling fans quit or your airflow is blocked, that quartz glass can stress or crack. Also, do yourself a favor and keep your reflectors clean. If dust builds up on those mirrors, your efficiency tanks. You’ll end up pushing the lamps harder just to hit your target temp, which wears them out faster. Keep them shiny, and they’ll keep working.
