Power, Voltage, and Size—What Actually Matters
When we talk specs, we keep it focused: wattage, voltage, and length. Those three decide how much heat you get, what the wiring needs, and how the lamp fits into the heater. The goal is serious heat from a tight package. To do that, you have to match the voltage so the carbon filament gets exactly the current it needs. Take 400V, for example. If your heater runs off a higher-voltage line, 400V lets you deliver the same power with less current. Less current means thinner wires, simpler connections, and less voltage drop over longer runs. But it also means the lamp and the control side have to be built for 400V—solid insulation and the right clearances. Length isn’t just about fitting the space. It shapes the heated zone and sets the overall size of the assembly. Shorter tubes focus the energy into a smaller area—perfect when you want intense, targeted warmth.
The Build: Quartz, Coating, and the R7s Ends
The tube itself is quartz, because it handles sudden temperature swings without cracking and lets infrared energy pass through cleanly. Inside, the carbon filament runs hot, and the quartz keeps the heat focused where you need it while shielding the filament from wind and moisture. Most outdoor-rated tubes have a reflective coating on part of the envelope. That coating pushes infrared energy forward, so more of it goes where you want it and less is wasted sideways. It also helps keep nearby parts from getting blasted by direct heat. For the ends, we use R7s—a double-ended linear connector built for the high heat inside the reflector. It gives you a secure electrical connection and holds the lamp in place, so swapping one in is straightforward.
